Summery Day at Three on Grove

Hi all! Well, as usual it has been busy around here at threeongrove! The kitchen is ALMOST done! And big Daddy has been working hard outside, as usual.  The plants are looking lovely and filling in so nice.  And of course a certain someone seems to bring home a car full of them every day after working.  I snapped a few shots inside the yard tonight.

These spent tulips were just as pretty in the bucket as they were in the yard.!

Today was a day for planting! I finished up planting the veggie garden and also made six cute little pots for kitchen herbs!
Who do these dirty toes belong too?
Ah yes, they belong to these little squirrels.  Those eyes look like trouble is brewing...!

Remember the pergola Big Daddy started? It is almost finished! Looking good! (Nice, Lady! I said no JET setting on the hose!)
Rhodies, JM Birch, Boxwood, Autumn Joy, Laurels, Hydrangea, heath, Lillies, Spurge, and a bit more.  Just planted this month.
Love this grouping with the lambs ear.
See the Yellow Lady Banks Rose? She has grown up since last year and is just starting to open today.

Last summer this Avalanche Clematis was only a couple feet tall.  It is about 6 feet this year and loaded with blossoms.  A winner!
Summer is almost here! Happy gardening!

Somebody alert the photographers! Your garden needs to be in a magazine! Seriously, what gorgeous photos, Chelsea.

I love those painted toes! My daughters (adults now) still paint their toenails different colors.

No wonder you're deadheading the tulips with that JET setting blasting them. :) Kids.

Big Daddy's pergola is To. Die. For. He worked so many details into it. He must be great with power tools. :)

Seriously, you just planted that border with the JM birches and laurels, etc.? It looks amazing.

And that rusty iron gate and arbor in the front. LOVE IT! Your garden is the quintessential cottage style. I love the picket fence too. Did you and Big Daddy do all of it or did you inherit it?

Also, I have a white Banksia rose. It has the most amazing scent, like violets. It hasn't quite begun to bloom yet though. I love how your yellow one matches the color of your house. The 'Avalanche' Clemmy is lovely too.

Total eye candy, Chelsea. Very impressive. I'm sure glad I stopped by.

Oh thank you for all of the wonderful compliments! Yes, we have done EVERYTHING you see at the house. When we moved in, a year and a half ago, it was all brown grass sloping to the street with some monstrous overgrown rosemary plants and a few of the larger trees like the lilac and a few rhodies--a total eyesore. Our plan was to turn it into a cottage garden and this house was just begging for a picket fence. It has been so fun watching it transform. One of these days I will update my before and afters!

Oh my word! Seriously Chelsea- the photos are stunning- but so are the photos! Wow, all that time and expertise you are cultivating along with the garden. Awesome! And I think Cupcake's eyes just might have the same gleam in them I've seen in Big Daddy's- just saying :)

Lovely pics. Your garden is looking great. That pergola is perfect, and you're right about the spent tulips, they are just as pretty in the bucket.

I had a lovely patch of lambs ear I planted last year but it did not come back for some reason. This post convinces me I need to get some more!

Hello fellow Portlander! I love your garden and your photography is so well done! Look forward to coming to visit again!

I couldn't locate your email but I have a question. Your yellow coffee table inspired me to paint an old wood high chair I found yellow. I finished but was looking to protect it. Is the minwax paste the best way? Is there a certain one you recommend? What about a polycrylic gloss? The high chair has a lot of detail in the spindles so I get nervous it might go on too thick in areas. Any advice? amberpitt@gmail.com

Very lovely home! Amazing balance of flowers, lawns, pergolas and cafe blinds. I want to live there.

The white picket fence has it's own charm and that actually led me to buy a house from a mortgage broker hawkesbury agent. I can't wait to have my own home with a lovely garden and the much coveted picket fence.
